My dad passed away one year ago tomorrow – Christmas Day 2015 at 2:45 in the afternoon. We miss him especially tonight. Dad and I say O Holy Night on Christmas Eve for many years. This is a recording we made several years ago with Vicki Smith on the organ. Merry Christmas!
My friend Amick Byram (AmickByram.com) will be on The Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda this Thursday morning live on NBC. He is singing, Make My Heart a Manger, a beautiful song written by Kathie Lee Gifford and David Friedman.
Amick sang the role of Moses in the animated feature film, The Prince of Egypt, and has performed in many stage productions including: Phantom of the Opera, (Broadway and LA), Les Miserables, (West Coast Premiere at the Shubert Theater) in the roles of Marius and Enjolras, and in Sunset Boulevard as Joe Gillis playing opposite Glenn Close. Amick is the recipient of 2 Grammy nominations for his vocal jazz albums. You have heard Amick’s voice on Shrek, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Pocahontas, Hercules, Mulan, El Dorado, and literally hundreds of other feature films. Amick can be heard on many television and radio commercials and as singing voices in more than 100 episodes of The Simpsons.
You may recognize Amick as Ian Troi, Counselor Troi’s father from Star Trek, The Next Generation. He has also appeared in guest roles on Ally McBeal, Kristin, Frasier, Friends, Saved By the Bell, and Superior Court where he appeared as a series regular for 3 seasons as attorney Darrell Guillary.
Amick is also a theatrical producer and director. He has directed world premieres of several musicals with budgets ranging from one-half million dollars to over eight million dollars. He is active in regional productions and also at the John Houseman Theater in NYC. He is the Founding Producing Director of American Coast Theater Company in Costa Mesa, California and is a guest artist lecturer at colleges and universities all over the country.
